Obituary from the June 3, 1938 issue of The Buckingham Post:

"The death occurred at her home, Lochaber Bay, Que., May 26, of Mrs. Alex F. MacEachern, daughter of the late Peter and Grace McDermid. The late Mrs. MacEachern was born June 20, 1856 and has lived all her life in this community where she was very highly respected and dearly loved.

She was of a kindly disposition and always ready to help anyone in trouble. She was a member of the United Church and was a regular attendant as long as her health permitted. Her husband predeceased her nearly twenty-seven years ago.

The funeral which was one of the largest ever seen in the community was held on Sunday May 29. A short service was conducted at the home by Mr. MacPherson thence to St. Andrew's church Buckingham where services were conducted by Rev. Mr. MacVicar, assisted by Rev. Mr. Nicholson and Mr. MacPherson.

Left to mourn her are two daughters, Mrs. G.H. Newton, Havelock, Ont., Mrs. M.E. Walsh, Navan, Ont., four sons, F.A. MacEachern, Lochaber Bay, J.M. MacEachern, Zealandia, Sask., P.H. MacEachern, Hamilton, Ont., W.D. MacEachern, Hearst, Ont., one sister Mrs. M.F. Fitzgerald, Boston, Mass., and one brother John McDermid, Calgary, Alberta. A son, Robert C. MacEachern, of Cumberland, Ont., and a daughter Grace predeceased her some years ago. She is survived also by several grandchildren.

Friends attending from a distance came from Ottawa, Bearbrook, Vars, Cumberland, Rockland, and Gore.

The floral tributes were beautiful and numerous. The pallbearers were Mac and Neil MacEachern, Percy and Jas. McDermid, J.T. Nesbitt and Wm. Young."
